Pastor LeAnthony Wright received Christ at the very young age of 15 and was simultaneously called to the ministry. After receiving the New Birth, he placed his membership with Philippian Community Church and served under the tutelage of Bishop/Founder Lawrence C. Callahan, Sr. For more than 20 years, he received a wealth of training in diverse areas of ministry ranging from evangelism, teaching, preaching, organization and outreach. Pastor Wright has fond memories of accompanying his mentor during several different denominational Bible studies that yielded a great harvest of new kingdom believers.
After serving in an Associate Minister, Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and District leader capacity; this young preacher felt an unction from the Holy Ghost to branch out and establish a church. He thus, instituted Anointed Ministries, a venture that served as an excellent training ground that instilled within him patience, persistence and prayerfulness. He later accepted the pastorate at Pentecostal COGIC, after the unfortunate illness of the church’s pastor/founder. God used all of the valuable training that he gained in ministry, to win hundreds of souls and to start a building renovation project that marveled the members of this small church.
God continued to order the steps of LeAnthony Wright in establishing Harvest Ministries. Both he and wife, Deborah Wright, began an outreach mission held in the Eastside Community Center. During this time, God’s overwhelming anointing and powerful ministry of the Word blessed people from all over the city. To facilitate the outreach, we later moved to the Holiday Inn Airport Conference Center and the services continued to provide salvation, deliverance and hope to many.
In March, 2003, after God confirms with Pastor Wright, that He wanted him to establish the outreach as a church, the ministry was blessed with a permanent location at 10650 Haverford Road. We were able to obtain the building with a special donation from our first and dearly beloved member, Annette Newsome, who has since gone on to be with the Lord.
In January, 2007, Pastor Wright received a call from Bishop Jones, informing him that the building located on 13th & Myrtle was available. After prayer and consultation with God, Pastor Wright was convinced that this was the next home of Harvest Ministries. We, therefore, began a new journey of renovating and rebuilding the beautiful, historic sanctuary as we endeavored to build the lives of newly converted souls.
The church has been noted for holding a health fair in the inner-city; vacation Bible school; back to school rallies and community cookouts.
From inception unto this present time, the ministry has experienced a continual flow of the anointing; being used of God to minister sound doctrine; impart wisdom and understanding and display the gifts of the Spirit for the edification of the Body of Christ.
